For the second year in a row, the Henrico Warriors ran into a perennial player in the Central Region Championship. Last season, it was No. 1 ranked Petersburg that sent the Warriors packing. This season, it was the team that resides right around the corner, the Justices of John Marshall High School who had plans similar to the Crimson Wave last year. But things change, and this year it will be the Henrico High School Warriors who represent the CentraL Region in this weekend’s Group AAA State Tournament. Henrico defeated Jayem 58 – 51 at the Siegal Center. Henrico is now 27 – 2 heading into the state tourney.
In the Girl’s championship, the Lady Springers of Highland Springs High School grabbed a 67 – 50 win over L. C. Bird in the title game to go 27 – 1 on the season. All four teams advance to the state tournament with Bird and John Marshall both going on the road in the quarterfinal round.
