President Barack Obama was in Richmond, Va on Friday talking about his American Jobs Act at the University of Richmond. The $447 billion package goes before Congress for a vote today. He hopes Congress will pass the bill now and not wait 14 months.
The American Jobs Act will include employment for construction workers; teachers; veterans; young people. Also, to cut the payroll tax and raise wages; preserve unemployment insurance; tax relief for middle class and tax credits for small businesses.
President Obama said that his package will not add to the deficit. And, bi-partican support for this type of bill in the past needs to be passed now.
President Obama addressing a crowd of 8,000 at the Robbins Center said he “can pay for it”.
