CRATER HEALTH DISTRICT TAKES SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS MOBILE
(PETERSBURG, Va.) – Crater Health District wants to make it convenient for you to get your children vaccinated before school starts this year. Crater Health District will commence its Back to School Mobile Immunization Clinic campaign tomorrow Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Sussex County. For the month of August, Crater Health District staff will travel across the health district to offer required school vaccinations at no cost to you or your children.
“It is vitally important for children to receive immunizations as they obtain protection from preventable diseases. We want children in our district to have the opportunity to get vaccinated early before school begins and we want to accommodate our parents by bringing the immunizations closer into their community,” says Crater Health District Immunization Coordinator Robin Cox.
The Code of Virginia (§ 22.1-271.2) requires that children attending public and private elementary, middle or secondary schools, child care centers, nursery schools, family day care homes or developmental centers obtain documentation that children have current immunizations to attend these facilities.
The mobile immunization clinic will also offer Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) immunizations to adults who are direct caregivers to infants and young children. Tdap immunizations are being provided for adults which prevent the transmission of pertussis (whooping cough) infections and its complications.
The Crater Health District Mobile Immunization Clinic will be in your area soon. Remember to bring a copy of your child’s immunization records. Check the schedule to find out where your school-age children can get their immunizations.
