The Carolina Panthers have signed their top draft pick and future of their franchise, QB Cam Newton of Auburn, who inked a $22 million deal, which is fully guaranteed for 4 years.  New Carolina head coach Ron Rivera felt it was imperative that Newton be ready to go when the Panthers hit training camp and wasted no time in getting his leader signed.  The contract sounds like peanuts compared to the $76 million that QB Sam Bradford got from the St. Louis Rams as last year’s No. 1 overall pick, and had it not been for the lock-out, Newton probably would have had a much bigger payday.
