You can’t say we’re not “Ballin” in VA. The NCAA has certified that fact with a record five men’s basketball teams being invited to the NCAA Tournament this week. Richmond has the highest seed after winning the Atlantic-10 title on Saturday, and will face Vanderbilt on Thursday. Hampton University also received an automatic bid by winning the MEAC Championship, but the 16th-seeded Pirates draw ACC Champion Duke. Old Dominion won the Colonial, George Mason had a tremendous year, despite the loss to VCU in the CAA semis. But it was the Rams selection that surprised everybody outside of Richmond, even ESPN hoops icon Dick Vitale. VCU will take on Southern Cal on Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio.
