The leader of the family, Manson died Sunday at the age of 83 from natural causes at a hospital in Bakersfield, California. Most of the surviving members who killed actress Sharon Tate and six other people on August 9, 1969 are still in prison. Patricia Krenwinkel, 69, Leslie Van Houten, 68, and Charles “Tex” Watson, 71, remain in California prisons. Steve “Clem” Gorgan, 66, was paroled in 1985. Linda Kasbian testified for the prosecution in exchange for immunity. The 68-year-old Kasabian did not serve any time in prison.
