Remember Twitter’s hilarious reactions to the prospect of putting advertisements on NBA jerseys?
It doesn’t appear to have fazed the league’s motion. Now, the Sixers have announced a deal with StubHub, becoming the first NBA franchise to reach an agreement to wear an advertisement on their uniform. The deal with the ticket provider will result in the brand’s logo appearing below the Sixers’ left shoulder during the 2017-18 season.
Earlier this year, StubHub became the Sixers’ official ticket provider, so this latest partnership isn’t too surprising.
“This marks another groundbreaking first for the Philadelphia 76ers and StubHub,” Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil said in a statement. “Our brands are now inextricably linked as we create lifelong memories for our fans in Philadelphia and around the world.”
Only time will tell how prevalent these ads become. Would you buy a jersey with a StubHub logo on it?
