Officials are investigating a plane crash that occurred in Spotsylvania last night.
A single-engine plane crashed at about 6:30 p.m., by a runway at the Shannon Airport. The pilot was killed, but thankfully, no one else was aboard the plane.
According to a source from the airport, the pilot had been threatening suicide before the crash and that it was intentional.
The plane was identified as a Cessna 172 and belonged to the flight school at the airport, not the pilot.
This information has not been confirmed by the police.
The cause of the crash is still unknown and the name of the pilot has not yet been released
