The NFL and the Referees finally came to an agreement, and the regular NFL officials were on the field for last night’s game in Baltimore. No surprise at the urgency after Monday night’s officiating nightmare that had everybody’s blood pressure rising, especially throughout the ststa of Wisconsin, home of the Green Bay Packers who were the obvious victims of the horrific call at the end of the Pack’s game at Seattle. According to sources inside the negotiations, the performance on Monday was so bad that the league actually called the union back to the table.
Week 4 began last night with the Cleveland Browns visiting the Baltimore Ravens, who sit atop the AFC North in a tie with the Cincinatti Bengals. The Browns have come close to victory but remain winless now after four games, as the Ravens grab a 23 – 16 victory. A little de’ ja vu at the end as Cleveland threw a “Hail Mary” pass into the end zone, almost to the very same spot as Monday’s debacle. Luckily for the refs, who hurried into place after the hasty agreement, the pass was batted down in the end zone, so move along, there’s nothing to see here!
A big game for the Washington Washington Football Team Sunday as they travel to Tampa Bay, where the Bucaneers feel they let one slip away in Dallas last week and will be looking to get back on track. For the Washington Football Team, their major task will be to protect QB Robert Griffin III from the hard-hitting Bucs defense. Griffin is getting more and more pressure as each week goes by which isn’t a good sign for a team with very little running game.
The bigger match-ups this week include the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the defending champion New York Giants in an NFC East battle. While the Giants are away, the Jets will come out and play…the San Fransisco 49ers, who lost their first game last week at Minnesota. On Monday night, the Dallas Cowboys, who are in a three-way tie atop the NFC East, will entertain the Chicago Bears, who lead the NFC North. Having the “real” NFL referees back would certainly increase the entertainment value!
