Nationally renowned poet Maya Angelou is recovering from a brief illness that forced her to cancel a planned speech in Texas at Women’s University in Denton, reports AP.
Angelou’s lecture agent David LaCamera said Tuesday 83-year-old Angeleou was set to speak on Wednesday but came down with an illness that left her in the hospital for three days.
LaCamera says Angelou is resting at home in Winston-Salem, N.C., and can’t travel. He says her doctor told her that she is traveling a lot and has to rest for a few days.
LaCamera declined to describe the nature of the illness that kept Angelou hospitalized until she was released on Saturday.
