After three years in the White House, First Lady Michelle Obama has decided to join Twitter.

Thursday, the First Lady’s office announced that Mrs. Obama will be tweeting this year as she gears up to help her husband win re-election this November.

“We’re excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President’s campaign,” her account read.

Although Mrs. Obama just signed up Thursday, she already has close to 140,000 followers, and despite following five people, she won’t be solely in charge of her tweets. While Mrs. Obama may pop on from time to time (she’ll sign her tweets with her initials), her account will be handled by her staff.

But the First Lady did have a few words for her followers today: “Hi, everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Look forward to staying in touch with you here. -mo”
