Singer Cee Lo Green will make his big screen acting debut in a planned remake of the movie/musical “Sparkle”, alongside singers Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks.
The original 1976 film, about three Harlem-based sisters who form a group in the late 1950s, is set for a revamp with Sparks as the title character and Houston in a starring role – her first acting job in more than 15 years.
Now Cee Lo, who has previously only worked on TV and in animated movies – like the upcoming “Hotel Transylvania” – has also been tapped for a featured part in Sparkle.
According to Daily Variety newspaper, R&B singer R. Kelly will provide the film’s soundtrack.
