Week Three of the 2011 college football season, and the 13th-ranked Hokies of Virginia Tech remain undefeated following Saturday’s 26-7 victory over Arkansas State in Blacksburg.  Not so fortunate were the Virginia Cavaliers, who fell 28-17 to ACC rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  It’s the Wahoos first defeat of the season.  The only game in town was sold out at the University of Richmond Saturday where the 6th-ranked Spiders remained unbeaten after rolling over the Keydets of VMI 34-19.  In the MEAC, Norfolk State rebounded from last week’s blowout by West Virginia to defeat the Bison of Howard University 23-9.  While the Spartans were in DC, a new Tidewater rivalry was born  Saturday night as Hampton University and Old Dominion hooked-up for the first time on the gridiron, the Pirates absorb their first loss in a thrilling 45-42 win for the Monarchs.  Both 804 CIAA teams lose on the road Saturday, Virginia State falls in Charlotte to Johnson C. Smith 14-7, and Virginia Union was beaten in Pennsylvania by Lincoln University 19-10.  James Madison and William & Mary were also among the weekend winners……..
