The NFL preseason ends it’s first week of action with the Jets visiting the Texans in Houston. While NY coach Rex Ryan has already guaranteed a Super Bowl win for the Jets, many believe it’s Philly and New England who are most improved in the key areas. The Patriots clobbered Jacksonville, the Eagles defeated Baltimore, and Dallas edged the Denver Broncos. No need for fans to go into “trash-talk” mode just yet, the teams are still trying to mesh and hundreds of free agents are cramming new playbooks, so it’s hard to read anything at this point in terms of Super Bowl contenders. In Washington, no one evaluating harder than Washington Football Team coach Mike Shanahan who took in Jim Zorn’s leftovers last season, so this year it is totally Shanahan’s squad, and the Skins actually looked promising on Friday night in defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers second unit. Cam Newton shined in his Carolina debut, and Detroit’s Ndamukong Suh has alerted QBs to make sure their heads are screwed on really tight….if not, he may just unscrew it for you! Suh is a beast.
