With the 10th anniversary of Aaliyah’s untimely passing around the corner, BET announced in a tweet Wednesday night (August 10) that a tribute is in the works and will air tonight.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of R&B singer/actress Aaliyah’s death. She was killed in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 in the Bahamas after a music video shoot. She was 22-years-old.
At the time of her death, Aaliyah had just released her 3rd album and had completed production on “Queen of the Damned” based on the Anne Rice novel.
BET is set to honor Aaliyah with a tribute special commemorating her life.
The show, entitled “Aaliyah: One In a Million”, will feature commentary from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Patti Labelle, Kelly Rowland and more.
Fans can tune into BET on Thursday, August 25 at 8pm EST to catch the special.
