During the summer, it’s typical to see teenagers out and about, but we usually don’t see them taking over and fighting at calm, artsy adult events. Last night’s first Friday’s Art Walk turned bad when teens arrived out of no where taking over Broad street. They were walking in the middle of the street, fighting on the corners and just being irresponsible.  I remember growing up and having to tell my parents where I was going, who I was going with and what I was doing.

Today, one text message, tweet or facebook posts can gather thousands in less than an hour. These are called “Flash Mobs” That is most likely what  happened last night. RVA Police Chief Bryan Norwood stated in an article by Richmond Times Dispatch that the city must find a solution. The trouble was not caused by all the teens that were out last night, but we can’t keep disturbing the vendors, shops, artists and participants with the behavior of few.  Click here to read the full article in Richmond Times Dispatch.
