Radio One Richmond Marketing and Promotion Director
Proactively manage all of the Marketing and Promotion activities for all Radio One Richmond stations. Proactive means anticipating and planning for any and all activities with enough time to execute with excellence and communicate with all parties involved.
Assist in the development of the Annual marketing and promotion budget.
Work monthly to track expenses and adhere to expense guidelines.
Manage the promotion and marketing budget not to exceed expenses unless preapproved by the General Manager.
Work with Market Controller on budgets and expense management. Acquire three bids on all major expenses of $500 to insure that Radio One is getting the best price possible and best quality for the price.
Current inventory of prizes and other give aways must be documented and up to date. All documentation of how we acquired such prizes must be kept in contest files.
All prizes must have prize sheets and documentation in Promo Suites. All purchase orders must be pre-approved by the General Manager and Market Controller.
General Organizational Duties:
Manage all stations’ promotional calendars to include ALL station activities:
contesting start and end dates; sales remotes, club nights and NTR events, and community events where Radio One Richmond is involved.
Develop marketing/imaging strategies and advertising NTR budgets for on-air and on the streets marketing to promote each of the Radio One Richmond stations working closely with Operations Manager and Program Director.
Create time-line for events from planning stage to execution to insure all aspects of event is being executed.
Share timeline with all department heads to keep everyone in the loop as to what is expected.
Manage all aspects of stations’ prizes and contesting both on air and on site promotional give aways, using Promo Suites to document all winners and prizes.
Also managing Trade and Trade for Mentions as it applies to contesting and prizes for events and remotes.
Planning and coordination of Major Book Promotions from inception to completion working closely with the Operations Manager and Program Director to include scheduling and coordinating execution of on air contesting and on the street marketing.
Create and produce station special events such as Stone Soul Music and Food Festival. Jobs Fairs, and other NTR events in conjunction with NTR selling strategies working closely with sales management, sales people and clients.
Insure that the outside image of all Radio One Richmond stations is in tact at all times, ie. all staff in logo attire and all signage and station presence is displayed to the maximum potential with the resources available.
Communicate with Webmaster to insure that all promotions are properly represented on the websites in a timely fashion. ie. if we are starting promos on air for a contest, the contest must be displayed on the websites.
Develop, create, and brainstorm promotions with sales to insure that Radio One maintains and increases share of business, with special emphasis on the top 25 local and national accounts.
Under promise and over deliver with flawless execution. Return all client calls within the business day, and respond to all client and sales emails within one business day.
Schedule on air sales promos for sales promotions using designated inventory allotted to Promotion Department for sales and station promotions.
Recap sales and station promotions within five business days of completion, using Marketron for documentation of on air promos and using photos, videos, web and other areas to document proof of performance.
Generation of new sales through promotional packaging and partnering by developing business relationships with key accounts and community leaders.
Responsible for Community Relations and providing information for Quarterly FCC Community Affairs reporting, this includes all non profit fund raising events and initiatives.
Keep up internal communications through daily contact and weekly promotion, department head and promotional department staff meetings.
Operations Manager and General Manager should be copied on all important logistical communication.
Write and distribute PRESS Releases for all newsworthy events and have an active current press list.
Develop professional relationships with Press contacts whenever possible. Oversee Promotion Department staff to include but not limited to Promotion Director and Street Team Members in all facets. (Summer interns included) Training of promotion staff to execute on and off air promotions and NTR events and assist with many of the Marketing and Promotion duties as delegated.
Create system of accountability to insure staff job performance is excellent.
Protect the company through strict adherence to signed agreements of all station events/promotions, serving as Legal Liaison to insure that all corporate legal requirements are met for client promotion and marketing events Adherence to all FCC rules and regulations as well as Radio One regulations regarding contesting to include writing all rules for all contests and insuring they are posted on the website as well as at applicable client locations and Radio One studios. Adherence to all Radio One rules and procedures regarding insurance regulations and corporate policies. Reports to Operations Manager with dotted line to General Manager.
