Although actor Wesley Snipes is currently a prisoner at McKean Federal Institute, after his release, Snipes may get back into the swing of things working for filmmaker Spike Lee.

“Yesterday I went to Pennsylvania to spend two great hours with my man Wesley Snipes,” said Lee via Twitter. “Mr. Snipes is in great shape, mentally, physically and spiritually. We laughed and joked for the whole two-hour visit. He said when he gets out — ‘It’s on.’”

When Lee’s Twitter followers asked about he and Snipes working together in the future, Lee replied, “We talked about it.” And when another follower inquired what physical condition Snipes was in, Lee answered, “Blade-shape.”

Lee and Snipes previously collaborated on two films in the early ’90s, Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever. Both films were early successes for Snipes.

Prior to being jailed for tax evasion, rumors swirled that the Lee had cast Snipes to play James Brown in a biopic on the Godfather of Soul’s life.

Lee will have to wait to get that James Brown projest started, however. Unless Snipes becomes eligible for early release, he won’t be out of prison until 2014.

Spike Lee has also urged fans of Snipes to send letters of encouragement to the actor to keep his spirits up during his prison stay.

“Send Your Prayers And Blessings To Our Brother Mr.Wesley Snipes.Your Letters Will Mean The World To Him,” Lee tweeted.

Snipes has always maintained his innocence and insists he was duped by tax advisors.
