The CNN Network has indefinitely suspended Roland Martin for a tweet he sent regarding a Super Bowl Ad that featured soccer star David Beckham in underwaer. Martin tweeted “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H & M underwear, smack the -ish- out of him”. Martin later apologized for what he sees as a simple misunderstanding, but too little, too late for the political analyst as members of GLAAD (The Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) was already on it. The organization immediately demanded his removal from the network and apparently the CNN execs complied by suspending Martin indefinitely. Martin insists his tweet was not homophobic in nature nor does he condone or encourage violence toward the gay and lesbian community.
