Following in the footsteps of Justin Timberlake (who recently invested millions in a company that bought MySpace), Rapper/Producer Kanye West is the latest musician to invest in a social media website.

West has just invested millions of dollars in ‘Turntable.fm’, an internet social media start-up that lets users play music for an online audience.

West joins Singer Lady Gaga and a few other stars in giving ‘Turntable.fm’ a cash infusion. According to reports, Kanye West invested $7.5 million with the company.

So what is Turntable.fm? A social media website that allows users to interactively share music. It allows users to create “rooms,” which other users can join. Designated users, so-called “DJs,” choose songs to be played to everyone in the room, while all users are able to talk with one other through real-time texts.

Kanye West has also invested millions in another internet start-up called Voyr, which allows fans to sign up for a live stream of the behind-the-scenes activities of their favorite musicians and rappers on tour, for a monthly fee.
