Donnell Rawlings began his comedy career in stand-up, quickly developing his skills and auditioning for Def Comedy Jam soon after. His early career also included a sketch group called “Secret Society”. He gained mainstream recognition for his role as Ashy Larry on Chappelle’s Show in 2003, with his catchphrase, “I’m rich, biatch!”, becoming well-known. Following the show, he toured and co-hosted the “lost episodes” with Charlie Murphy after Dave Chappelle’s departure.

Rawlings has also released stand-up specials, including “Donnell Rawlings: From Ashy to Classy” in 2010 and the Netflix special “A New Day” in 2024, produced by Dave Chappelle. He continues to tour globally with comedians like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock. His comedic style, influenced by his mother, uses observational humor, and combines planned material with improvisation.

Rawlings has multiple performances scheduled in Houston this weekend at the Houston Improv:

  • Friday, July 25, 2025: 7:30 PM & 9:45 PM
  • Saturday, July 26, 2025: 7:00 PM & 9:30 PM
