A young boy from Chesterfield was killed on July 4th during a fireworks display.

It has been reported that the bullet that struck and killed the 7-year old Brendon Mackey came from a handgun.

Mackey was with his father, in a parking lot in Brandermill at 9pm on Thursday to see fireworks. When Macky lagged behind, then fell, his father thought the boy had fainted. Instead, he found a bullet wound in his son’s head.

The boy was rushed to the VCU Medical Center and died at 11am on Friday morning.
