Two days after making landfall in the Gulf Coast region, Hurricane Issac, now downgraded to a Tropical Storm again, continues to wreak havoc all over the coast with flooding, destruction, and now tornado activity as well. Dramatic rescues yesterday in the Mew Orleans area where some residents were discovered just in the nick of time as flood waters had engulfed their homes. President Obama declared a state of emergency for Louisiana after the levee breeched in New Orleans near Plaquemines Parish leaving hundreds of homes completely underwater.

A tornado was reported on the ground in Mississippi this morning, and residents in Slidell, Louisiana had to escape that town as massive flooding has consumed much of the area. Issac was nowhere near the destructive storm that Katrina was, but with the storm surge and the flooding, it’s impact seems just as great, especially in the New Orleans area, where they’ve been shoring-up the levee system for seven years since the devastation of Katrina.
