The City of Richmond and County of Henrico hosted the 76th annual Virginia State Conference of the NAACP this weekend at the Hilton-Short Pump,and I was honored to be the ToastMaster for such a magnificent event. The NAACP has long been the nation’s most significant civil rights organization and continues its tireless work of ensuring educational, political, social, and economic equality, and it was nice to meet many of the people who play such a huge role in pursuing those goals. Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries, the keynote speaker, delivered a strong message to an audience that included Senator Henry Marsh, Congressman Bobby Scoot, and Delegate Donald McEachin, to name a few. A proud evening indeed for me to host the Freedom Fund Banquet, and again my thanks to King Salim Khalfani and his staff for the invitation. We are definitely “Fired Up and Ready To Work!”
