RICHMOND, Va. (RADIO ONE KISS): Get your bikes ready for the annual Unity Ride sponsored by the Sickle Cell Association of Richmond – OSCAR. The ride is Saturday, May 3, staging will take place in the parking lot of the Petersburg Health Department, 301 Halifax Street, at 9am, the first bike will roll out at 11am and the procession will end in the parking lot of Second Baptist Church, 3300 Broad Rock Boulevard in Richmond.
The goal of the Unity Ride is to heighten awareness of Sickle Cell, according to The Sickle Cell association over 4,000 people in Virginia suffer with Sickle Cell Disease and more than 155,000 Virginians have the Sickle Cell Trait.
