A baby was found in a dumpster off of the 1800 block of Monument Avenue by a cleaning crew. Police were called to the scene around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Police said the medical examiner is confirming the gender of the infant and the exact cause of death.
ShaVaughn Robinson, 27, is charged with felony concealment of a body for disposing of the child’s body in the dumpster near Lee Circle. The Commonwealth’s Attorneys Office may file additional charges.
Richmond Police Chief Tarasovic, along with top investigators, swert the crime scene behind Lee Medical building on Allen Street, trying to determine if the baby was dead before or after it was put in the dumpster.
Detectives say multiple people came forward helping them to identify a suspect and make the arrest. They are not looking for anyone else in connection with this crime.
