A California mother has been arrested and charged with incest, among other allegations, for having sex with her teenage biological son.
Officials say, Mistie Atkinson, 32, had not had contact with her now 16-year-old son for 15 years, but ‘tracked him down’ last year through Facebook.
According to police, officers were serving a search warrant when they found Atkinson and the 16-year-old in a hotel room.
She was arrested and charged with incest, oral copulation with a minor, contact with a minor for a sexual offense, and “sending harmful matter” to a minor.
Mistie Atkinson pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Police, in a court filing, say videos were found on the teenager’s phone, dated Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, that show Atkinson performing oral sex and engaging in sexual intercourse with the boy. Authorities also say, Atkinson sent nude and explicit pictures of herself to the boy’s cellphone.
They talked about running away together, court documents state.
“Atkinson and the victim are aware they are biological mother and son,” police said in the court affidavit.
Mistie Atkinson has a history of contact with cops, including multiple domestic violence calls involving the residence she shares with a boyfriend, police said.
“She was arrested for domestic battery Nov. 27,” investigators said. “That appears to be the start of her spiral.”
Atkinson is now being held on $200,000 bail. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.
She is scheduled to appear in court on May 10.
The father of the boy, who has full custody, has obtained a restraining order against Atkinson.
