Reality TV Star Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce just 72 days after marrying New Jersey Nets Kris Humphries in a lavish ceremony that was taped for her reality show.

That was quick.

Kardashian and Humphries married on August 20, in what some Hollywood reporters called “Royal Wedding #2,” which earned Kim and Kris more than $18 million dollars.

The wedding was filmed for a 4-hour, two part TV special shown on E! network, for which they reportedly earned between $12 and $15 million dollars. Then, People magazine paid $2.5 million for the exclusive rights to the wedding pictures and an additional $300,000 for the engagement shots. And, Britain’s OK magazine paid $100,000 for exclusive pictures of the bridal shower.

“Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning,” Tweeted Ryan Seacrest, who produces her reality show. “I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.”

In a statement, Kim Kardashian says: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Kardashian, 30, has hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented a truckload of stars including actor Ryan Reynolds, Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Kelis, Britney Spears, and most recently the former First Lady of California Maria Shriver.

Reportedly, after returning from their honeymoon, Kardashian and Humphries moved to New York with her sister Kourtney, Kourtney’s boyfriend and their baby. Kim admits it was not “an ideal living situation” for them, but it was business.

Two weeks ago, the L.A. Times reported that Kim has been in touch with her former fiance NFL player Reggie Bush. And just last week, the New York Post reported that prior to Kim’s relationship with Kris Humphries, Kim’s mother placed a phone call to New York Knicks Danilo Gallinari to inquire whether he would be interested in dating Kim and having a role on her reality show.

Saturday, when asked about the status of her marriage, Kim said, “Something I really prepared Kris for [was] to let him know that no matter what we do, there’s going to be rumors.” She continued, “It used to really upset me and now I don’t even think about it.”

The date of the separation is listed as today, October 31st, and Kim is not seeking an annulment. It was reported that Kris Humphries signed an ironclad prenuptial agreement, so he leaves with only the clothes on his back. Of course he will have to find a new representative, since Kris Jenner (Kim’s mother) signed on as his manager 2 weeks after the wedding.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work,” Humphries said in a statement later Monday.

All of this raises the question – will this divorce filing be just another show of theirs, and will they end up staying together anyway? Wouldn’t be surprised about that either.

I’m sure a newlywed show, divorce show, pregnancy show, post-divorce show, and the list goes on were already in the works anyway. Anything that makes for a good show is worth money for them.
