Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney has announced on Friday that the county will not be filing criminal charges against Joe Morrissey over accusations of pressuring a client for sex because there was no evidence of wrong doing nor crime committed.
In a statement from attorney Shannon Taylor:
“Joe Morrissey will not be charged with criminal wrongdoing. While what he did was wrong and unethical, there will not be a prosecution, however, in accordance with our legal responsibilities to report unethical behavior, we have spoken with the Virginia Bar.”
This all started after a female client of Morrissey’s claimed that he exposed himself to her at his law firm, sent her explicit text messages and pressured her for sex but when she refused , he allegedly passed her case to another lawyer who pushed her into pleading guilty.
Morrissey has adamantly claimed innocence and has chalked the entire situation as just “election eve shenanigans.”
