Sixteen people were shot in a hail of gunfire Sunday night at Bunny Friend Park in New Orleans. According to reports, multiple people began firing shots into a crowd of more than 300. The group was celebrating the Nine Times Social Aide & Pleasure Club’s annual second line parade that occurred earlier in the day. Police officials reported that 10 people were taken to local hospitals by the EMS and the other six came to the emergency rooms on their own. “At the end of the day, it’s really hard to police against a bunch of guys who decided to pull out guns and settle their disputes with 300 people in between them. It’s not something you can tolerate in the city,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “This is a classic case where we need citizen help. People know who did this. We need them to come forward and tell us so we can bring these people to justice.” All of the victims are in stable condition. Read more.
