It’s a girl! Clovia was born on Wednesday, September 22 at 12:09 pm at MCV. Lil Clovia weighed in at 7lbs 8oz and was 19 inches long. She was a fat cheeked baby who was into everything and wasn’t afraid of nothing -not even a hot stove.
At 17 days old Clovia was crying out of control and her parents thought she was sick so they rushed to the hospital. Her parents found out she was not sick but just hungry from that 2 ounce bottle of milk so the doctor increased her milk to 4 ounces every two hours.
Clovia was an all around good kid from playing sports at the Powhatan Hut in Fulton to a member of the Armstrong-Kennedy High School Marching Band (AK). She was a rifle girl.
If you haven’t noticed Clovia loves to talk and her teachers in public school didn’t like it, as well as, a few of her professors at Virginia Union University. They eventually hurdled over it because she often said she was just practicing to be the greatest radio/tv broadcaster.
Clovia starting to work in her field of Journalism/Broadcasting while a student at VUU. She graduated and continued her internship at 990 WANT-am with Ken Crandall and Jim Minor as news and traffic reporter. She went on to Q94 as promotions assistant and then on to Magic 99 as midday announcer; then on to K95 as a weekend announcer and then to 104.7 Country the Bear as midday announcer; then on to night announcer at Lite 98 and then to Fox 35 as production assistant and then to CBS-6 as master control engineer and voiceover producer.
She co-hosted her first national syndicated show during the presidential elections in 2008 at Radio One Incorporated news talk stations. And Clovia is currently the Community Affairs and News Director for Radio One Inc. Richmond.
She has literally broadcasted on all music format stations -classic rock, top 40, lite favorites, country and r&b. Clovia was called “Big Clo” while midday announcer on 99.3 and 105.7; “CJ” at K95, Q94, Lite 98 and 104.7, the Bear and now “Miss Community” Cloovia
