For die-hard fans of the “Twilight” saga books and films, this weekend was drew thousands upon thousands of viewers and raked in $141.3 million in sales for it’s opening weekend.

The final blockbuster film in the series proved to be the biggest openings of its kind ranking eighth on the list of all-time domestic debuts with “Twilight” holding three of the top-10 openings, joining 2009’s “New Moon” (No. 7 with $142.8 million) and last year’s “Breaking Dawn — Part 1” (No. 9 with $138.1 million), according to the most recent Associated Press reports and figures.

Though “Twilight” still is reportedly a female-driven franchise, with girls and women making up 79 percent of the opening-weekend audience, the finale drew the biggest male crowds in the series to date. The Associated Press claims this increase came from the action-minded guys who found they had more to root for in the finale as “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner joined in a colossal battle to complete the last story of warring vampires and werewolves.
