Obama for America has released a new video on Women’s Health Security. President Obama continues to stand for women’s rights, and thanks to his landmark health reforms, women across America now have access to important preventive health care without paying additional dollars for services.

President Obama’s opponent for president Mitt Romney said  he wants to “get rid of” all federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Cuts in federal funding would  prevent millions of women from accessing breast and cervical cancer screenings, annual exams, and other health care services they need to stay healthy. Romney has also vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act and has offered no plans to replace it,  said Obama for America.

Virginia Delegate Jennifer McClellan (71st Disrict) said during our interview that “before President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law women could not afford preventive health services because the cost was too high.” Effective August 1, 2012, women have access to preventive screenings without a co-pay or deductible. Health insurance companies will cover mammograms, HPV vaccines, contraceptives and breast-feeding support.

“Unlike Mitt Romney, President Obama believes that ensuring the health security of women is a family issue and an economic issue, and that all Americans who work hard and play by the rules should have access to quality, affordable health insurance” said Obama for America.
