UPDATE: Reverend Jessie Jackson SR gave America an update on Jessie JR’s condition. ” He is responding to treatment and regaining his strength. Jackson told Roland Martin on the Tom Joyner Morning Show that Jessie Jr is “under good care and responding but can’t put a timetable on his recovery.”

Reverend Jackson Sr said “so many people are facing depression without treatment. While in treatment at the Mayo Clinic, doctors “don’t want Jessie JR to get any news information. They need to time to evaluate him for the best form of treatment.” Jackson SR said ” his health is the most important thing.”

Illinois-D, 2nd District Congressman Jessie Jackon JR took a leave of absence on June 10, 2012. However, Jackson’s office did not disclosed his absence to the public until weeks later. His office initially said Jackson was being treated for exhaustion. Now, Jackson’s office said his condition was more serious and required inpatient medical treatment.

The speculation into Jackson’s disappearance has ended and the Mayo Clinic has released a statement that Jackson is undergoing an extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and for gastrointestinal issues. The hospital has provided the first details about Jackson’s medical condition. The Mayo Clinic is located in Rochester, Minnesota.

“Further information will be released as Congressman Jackson’s evaluation proceeds,  the Mayo Clinic statement said. To add, Jackson and his family were “grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers that have been received throughout his care.”

Jackson’s father, Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. said “there is no timetable on his recovery. We hope he will fully recover.”
