Members of the United States Senate is expected to vote today on the Women’s Paycheck Fairness Act today. President Obama has fought for women’s rights and supports this act but republicans are trying to the block the passing of this bill which will help guarantee equal pay for women. The presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has refused to say whether he supports the act or not.

President Obama signed his first bill into law in support of women with the Lilly Ledbetter Act in 2009.  The Lilly Ledbetter Act of 2009 guarantees fairness in pay for women.

Senator Louise Lucas represents District 18, Portsmouth in Virginia’s General Assembly. The Women’s Paycheck Fairness Act if passed will bring equality in pay for women. Senator Lucas said Mitt Romney has declared war on women with social issues as contraceptives. And again, Romney has not said if he will or not support the Women’s Paycheck Fairness Act.

Senator Lucas said during our interview that in Virginia women earn 79 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Listen to my interview with Senator Louise Lucas.
