Two weeks ago, it was widely reported that actress Halle Berry had become engaged to her actor/boyfriend Olivier Martinez. Then came news that she filed court documents requesting permission to relocate to France with her new fiance, and 3-year-old daughter Nahla.

Only one problem: She’s still involved in a bitter custody battle with her ex-boyfriend fashion model Gabriel Aubry, who isn’t thrilled at the prospect of his daughter being moved out of the country. In fact, sources claim that Aubry is “livid” because he believes that Berry is trying to punish him by taking Nahla away.

Halle claims her decision is partially based on stalkers who have threatened her life. Police sources have confirmed that a man named Robert Hoskins, who is currently in a mental institution, has declared that he wants to slit Berry’s throat, and another of her stalkers, Richard Franco, was recently released from jail after striking a plea deal. Sources close to Halle Berry say that she is afraid of future incidents, especially because her private home was recently added to those “Hollywood Maps of Celebrity Homes.”

Berry also claims she has concerns about exposing her daughter to the paparazzi — which she reportedly believes Nahla’s father does far too frequently. But this is not the first time she has criticized Gabriel Aubry for his parenting skills; for the past year, Halle has been going back-and-forth to court to limit her ex-boyfriend’s visitation rights. In June, she accused him of child neglect; then last month, she sought to eliminate all contact news broke that Aubry was being investigated for child endangerment after allegedly shoving Nahla’s nanny, whom Halle hired. No charges were ever filed in that case.

Currently, a hearing on Halle’s request to relocate to France is pending. Hopefully, the judge will reach a decision that gives Nahla as normal and carefree a life as possible.
