The Baltimore Orioles weren’t even close to making the Major League Baseball playoffs, but the O’s sure made life painful for the Boston Red Sox on the final day of the regular season. The Orioles defeated Boston 4-3 to knock the Sox out of the playoff picture as Tampa Bay defeated the playoff-bound New York Yankees to take the final American League slot. Same scenario in the National League where the Atlanta Braves completed their collapse right on into the final day, falling to the Phillies 4-3 in the ATL. Just how far did the Braves tumble in the last month? Atlanta held a 10 game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals 30 days ago, and last night’s loss put the Cardinals into the playoffs. Wow!
