Prince, 14; Paris, 13; and Blanket, 9, along with their grandmother Katharine Jackson, helped dedicate some Michael Jackson artwork at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Ten pieces of artwork created and signed by Michael were donated. Each piece of drawing reflected his love of chairs, keys and the number seven. He was the 7th child in the Jackson family. The gift was made at a special ceremony at the hospital.
Jackson’s children helped unveil the artwork. They also placed their signatures underneath their father’s signatures on some of the pieces.
Michael Jackson’s sister, La Toya, said the artwork will make people happy.
“They’re whimsical, they’re magical and it’s just joy and peace. I know that when you see this, and when the kids see it, it will bring some type of joy to them, and at the same time, I know it will bring some type of joy to my brother as well,” said La Toya Jackson.
The artwork is a personal collection of Brett-Livingstone Strong, an artist and close personal friend of Michael Jackson and his family.
“This is Michael’s art and he created this over a 25-year period. This is just 10 of his works of art,” said Strong.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa attended the ceremony.
Michael Jackson’s family said he would be thrilled with this special gift to Children’s Hospital, given his love for children.
“I know that Michael wouldn’t want his art in a better place than a hospital like this that would help children and people everywhere,” said La Toya Jackson.
Hospital officials said that the artwork will hang throughout the new Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
