The Richmond City Jail slightly upgraded their facilities this past week, installing more than two dozen giant sized industrial fans after the death of two inmates last month due to a heat stroke. Sheriff C.T. Woody said the 25 barrel-style fans were provided by the city to coincide with the already existing fans in the jail. Since there is no air conditioning in the jail an upgrade of cooling has been long over due. This month the Department of Justice has been investigating the conditions of the jail and plans for a new jail are in the works.
