BREAKING: The 27th 2nd Street Festival is cancelled but Con Funk Shun will host a free concert at the Hippodrome on Saturday night in historic Jackson Ward.

Venture Richmond will offer a free concert at 5 p.m. on Saturday October3, at the Hippodrome, featuring Con Funk Shun. Con FunK Shun was the headliner for this year’s festival. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and entry will be first come, first served.



Nearly 50,000 people attend every year to remember the rich history of Jackson Ward.  You will enjoy live music -r&b, gospel and jazz from October 3 through October 4 on four stages. The headliners this year are National Recording R & B Band Con Funk Shun and Saxophonist James “Saxmo” Gates. There is the marketplace, children activities and dancing in the streets.   Radio One Inc. will broadcast live this Saturday from 12pm-7pm at 2nd and Leigh Streets.  Please join our family for fun, food and prizes. We will put some purpose in the party by giving you an opportunity to get registered to vote  and/or start the process of getting your rights restored if convicted of a felony with Rolling For Freedom-R4F.
