Category 4 Hurricane Earl may be headed for the Providence, Rhode Island area. The 5th named storm of 2010, Hurricane Earl is packing maximum sustained winds of 135mph, and wind gusts of 160mph. Hurricane Earl’s projected path shows this powerful cyclone barreling towards the east coast with Rhode Island possibly in its sight.

Accuweather forecasts show Tropical Storm Fiona lining up right behind Hurricane Earl, and could prove to be an interesting, if not dangerous set of powerful storms to hit the New England area. Rhode Islanders should be especially concerned and pay close attention the weather forecasts the next few days. For a detailed NOAA Hurricane Weather Map, see The National Weather Service Hurricane Center.
