Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts in Richmond has opened their doors to kindergarten children in efforts to fill classrooms for a better learning experience. The school is already one of a kind, being the only elementary charter school in the history of the state.

“It’s important for us, as a new school, to have the classes as full as possible,” said Kristen Larson, a member of the school’s board of directors. “We know we’ll lose kids as they progress through the school — all schools do — and we want to make sure we’re ready for that.”

Applications are being accepted through July 23 and the school is scheduled to open on August 11th with about 165 students.
