Breaking: NYPD Fires Officer Involved In Eric Garner Case

During a live announcement on Monday August 19th, Commissioner James O’Neill announced that NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo was fired effective immediately for killing Eric Garner by using an illegal chokehold during an arrest for a nonviolent crime more than five years ago in Staten Island.
O’Neill said Pantaleo “consciously disregarded” the prohibited chokehold but persisted regardless.
