Virginia, the birth of America! Welcome to the New World!
On this hot day July 30, 1619, 22 white male members held the first legislative body assembled in Virginia, known today as the Virginia General Assembly. Also, in 1619 marks the first recorded arrival of Africans in Jamestown. What will the next year look like for blacks? What will the next 400 years look like for America?
