Unorthodox Dems
Newly elected officials were sworn into Congress this week causing the Democrats to take over the House from Republicans.
The Dems line-up features diverse representatives including Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, the first Muslim women elected to Congress, Deb Haaland and Sharice Davids, the first Native women elective to Congress, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest person elected to Congress at 29 years old.
Less than a week in office and the new faces are already proving they’re not your typical Congress people.
Rashida Tlaib made this even more apparent when a video surfaced of her dropping the F-bomb to a crowd of supporters. In a speech about winning her seat, Tlaib said she was going to take on “bullies” while in office (ahem…TRUMP).
“When your son looks at you and says ‘momma look you won,’ bullies don’t win,” Rashida said. “And I said ‘baby they don’t’ because we’re going to go in there and we’re going to impeach the motherfucker.”
RASHIDA IS NOT PLAYING GAMES.
The Internet was shocked by her frankness, but for the most part, her supporters were on the verge of a praise break…
But of course Republicans were clutching their pearls at Rashida’s language…despite having a president who has a river-length history of foul statements. Even some Democrats chastised Rashida with California Rep. Jim Costa calling her words “inappropriate,” according to CNN.
But Rashida wasn’t about to take back her delivery. She posted a tweet on Friday saying “I will always speak truth to power.”
This is not your respectable Congress.
Now let’s hope those policies match with the big talk.

Losers
Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen recently had Kevin Hart on her show to talk about his Oscar controversy.
Kevin stepped down from hosting the 2019 awards ceremony when he refused to release an official apology for homophobic tweets that date back almost a decade ago, one of which read, “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay.’”
In the interview with Ellen, Hart claimed that he apologized over and over again for his tweets in past press runs. Thus, he felt like he didn’t need to apologize again and he felt “attacked” when people kept trying to bring it up.
Ellen agreed that people were too hard on Kevin and she even called the Academy to get his hosting gig back. “I really want you to host the Oscars,” DeGeneres said when Hart appeared on the show, which aired Friday.
Ellen then went on for about a minute on how Kevin “has grown” and he shouldn’t let the “trolls” try to bring him down.
Uuuum…no Ellen.
Not once did Ellen ask Kevin how he’s grown since his 2009 to 2012 tweets.
What knowledge does he now have about LGBTQ bullying rates or suicide rates and how his past words can fuel such culture. What words would Kevin now have for his Black son if he ever came out as LGBTQ. Ellen’s show would have been the perfect platform for Kevin to make clear his “new” stance on LGBT issues.
Kevin also has yet to re-post or retweet his alleged “past apologies.” Don’t you think this would be helpful in his argument that he’s apologized before?
On top of all this, is it really Ellen’s place to forgive Kevin on behalf of the entire LGBTQ community??? Why campaign for Kevin to host the Oscars and not your other queer or queer-friendly friends like Wanda Sykes? It literally feels like Hart called his gay BFF to get him out of a messy situation and Ellen completely took the bait.
Kevin Hart will have a career whether he hosts the Oscars or not.
But in Ellen’s case, this could have been a great opportunity to ask more about Kevin’s growth on LGBT issues…and she completely dropped the ball.
