A Councilwoman in Nashville wants to rename the Nashville International Airport after Oprah Winfrey. Sharon Hurt made the request to the Nashville Airport Authority, but they rejected it citing “criteria” as the reason for the rejection.
If you didn’t know, Winfrey does have ties to Nashville. She graduated from Tennessee State University and started her media career in Nashville too.
Hurt wants a meeting with the Airport Authority to speak further on the request. Hurt has had success in the past, she got a portion of Charlotte Avenue in Tennessee to be names after Martin Luther King Jr.
Would you vote yes for Oprah to have an airport named in her honor?
