The Richmond School Board has accepted the resignation of Carver Elementary Principal Dr. Kiwana Yates and teachers Evette Cartwright, Kayiesha Golds, Chireda Cotman and Betty Alexis, and former Assistant Principal Fay Joyner. Three other teachers involved in the scandal, Valencia Davis, Marlin Osborne and Nicole Lacy, have not submitted their resignations but their employment is still pending.
This is all the result of the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) releasing a shocking report on July 30th detailing ‘potential testing irregularities’ at G.W. Carver Elementary. After an investigation, teachers were found to have been assisting students during SOL testing to raise scores.
