Rick Ross has had the internet on fire since the release of his new album, Rather You Than Me — mostly because of a song on the LP taking up for Lil Wayne and taking shots at Birdman called, “Idols Become Rivals.”

Peep his response to the track below:

“I don’t get caught up in hoe shit, man. I just keep doing what I’m doing and keep pushing. I don’t get caught up in that, I don’t play like that. I’m a man and I stand my ground and I do my thing. Numbers don’t lie, and that’s all I give a fuck about: numbers, and puttin’ them up.”

Some of the lyrics that had Birdman bothered?

“I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne/His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain/I watched this whole debacle so I’m part to blame/Last request, can all producers please get paid.”

See Rozay elaborate on why he felt the need to release “Idols Become Rivals.”

“It’s one of those things that when you’re a student and you admire someone from a distance, then you get the opportunity to work with them and you’re working along with them and then you begin to see things you don’t respect or didn’t expect to see,” Ross says, not naming Birdman in the interview, but making his point nonetheless.

And once you see it almost become the source to that downfall, it’s really unfortunate. And when you see other solid dudes suffering at the same time that’s what make it even worse, that’s what made me wanna put it on wax.”
