The 59th Annual Grammy Awards aired last Sunday and the ceremony had its shares of ups and downs. Some fans are miffed that despite being up for a leading nine awards, Beyoncè only walked away with one trophy which moved her up in Grammy history nonetheless.

Already the most-nominated woman in the award ceremony’s history, has surpassed her husband, Jay Z, and close collaborator Kanye West with her 22nd Grammy. The Houston-born singer won the Best Video award for her smash “Formation” single from her Album Of The Year candidate release, Lemonade.

Both Jay Z and West have 21 wins apiece, and Beyoncé joins them near the top of the Black Grammy Award winners in history. The legendary Quincy Jones has won 27 of the coveted trophies and has been nominated 72 times. Jones sits right behind late Opera conductor and Chicago Symphony Orchestra leader Georg Solti, who’s won 31 awards.

Other top winners include Stevie Wonder, with 22 wins as a solo artist. Wonder also shares a record with the late Frank Sinatra for winning the Album Of The Year album three times. The recently retired Aretha Franklin has won 18 awards, and Alicia Keys has notched 15 wins, which ties her with Adele who won in all five categories she was nominated on Sunday.

Jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald and opera singer Leotyne Price have both won 13, gospel singer Shirley Ceasar has won 11 and funk songstress Chaka Khan has won 10 in her career.

Beyoncé has been nominated 62 times in her career. Country singer Allison Krauss is the leading female Grammy Award winner with 27 wins.
