Ruben Santiago-Hudson plays the band Director on BET’s new hit series The Quad, the story of life at a Historically Black University and how it effects everyone from the students to the first female President Dr. Eva Fletcher (played by Anika Noni Rose).

The Tony award winner talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about the series and his relationship with August Wilson and the Broadway play Jitney.

“It takes place at an HBCU but the elements of the show are human. It’s an adult drama. Throughout the course of the season we will touch on everything from mortality and include loving someone you can’t have.”

The Quad airs Wednesday nights on BET at 9p CST. Click the link below to hear the entire interview.
